John Dankworth was a remarkable man who truly lived and breathed music; he was a leading instrumentalist and tireless champion of musical education.

Even from his earlier years when he acquired his first musical instrument, a second-hand clarinet, John had an extraordinary determination and passion for music. This lead to the co-founding of Wavendon Allmusic Plan Ltd (WAP), the charity that owns The Stables.

Back in 1969, the publishing venture with David Platz which saw the creation of Key Music & Newquay Music, both companies which are still active today, and allowed John the creative energy to do what he loved right up until his passing.

We will miss John Dankworth very much but will never forget and will always be reminded of his greatness though the sound of his music.
