Memphis based Red Wax Music LLC have just signed a deal with Powis Music.

The Red Wax catalogue includes Alicja Trout who was co-writer and co-founder with Jay Reatard of the group Lost Sounds, and her own band River City Tanlines (one of Spin magazine’s essential Memphis bands). Lost Sounds’ material has recently been heard on Swedish Pop Idoland also the syndicated TV series Hung.

Also featured is Joel Rafael, an A2IM Best Contemporay Folk Award nominated New Folk act who is described as a natural interpreter of Woody Guthrie’s lyrics and music. In July 2007 he was honoured at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. His title This Is My Country features David Crosby and Graham Nash.

Giant Bear are one of Paste Magazine’s 4 to Watch. As they say “with its banjo versus cello duels, alternately mellow and howling refrains and sharp, searching lyricism—it’s maddening to consider the depth and beauty of music they might create unhindered by the pesky demands of everyday life.”

Also represented are Grammy nominated Paul Speer, American Gun, Zach Williams and the Reformation and George McConnell.
