Back in 2014 – it seems like a lifetime ago now – when we heard news of Maria Schneider’s collaboration with David Bowie it came a very exciting surprise – and an extra ear grin came knowing that our friend Tony Visconti was co-producing their song.  Back in the Sixties, David was signed to our publishing company and Tony was employed as our in-house producer, where we first introduced him to David.  47 years later and this time we co-published Sue (Or in a Season of Crime) obo Maria and Dan Coleman’s Modern Works Music.  This exploratory avant garde song saw David completely engrossed in the moment as the Maria Schneider Orchestra piloted Bowie in yet further new territory for his musical wanderlust.  It was a joy to behold and a proud moment to be associated again with one of his creations.  Whilst the current re-entry of his work into the charts would be a cause for huge celebration, circumstance dictates an enormous sense of loss which frankly seems unlikely to erode even over time. We are proud to be involved in Blackstar — which has entered the UK Album Charts at number 1.
