THE 40th ANNIVERSARY SERIES

PROCOL HARUM : A Whiter Shade Of Pale : Special limited edition single

Release date 13th August 2007 on CD & vinyl 7” with picture sleeve. Both formats include an exclusive previously unreleased recording from 1967.

From the moment the song was originally conceived by Gary Brooker and Keith Reid, through the assembly of the band to perform it and the subsequent development of the song and it’s most recent legal controversy, it has remained one, if not THE most popular ‘Pop’ song ever. Procol Harum’s timeless classic remains the most played record ever in Britan, and was recently voted by Radio 2 listeners as their favourite song of all time (as voted for on ‘Sold On Song’).

This limited edition release will be available in two formats.

WHAT’S COMING…..

The ongoing tape excavation taking place in our archive, situated in Onward Music's West London vaults, has already revealed many previously believed 'lost' original master tapes; original session multi-track tapes and mix master tapes, some of which contain demos, radically different versions of known tracks, unfinished works in progress and the occasional recording that musicologists over the years had presumed were MBW - Missing Believed
WIPED. (Visit our BLOG page for an encapsulation of this process).

The materials and tapes being unearthed are an illuminating, if admittedly overdue, spotlighting of music that weaves a story which will springboard a re-appraisal of key artists, recordings & producers as well as serving to re-unite fans with favourite records, remastered as never before, and where applicable remixed from multi-tracks newly created from sessions tapes and original overdubs allowing them to be heard as never ever before which will bring them into preview of today’s music artists and fans. Most of the music has weathered the changing times remarkably well, whilst others glow with their period charm.

WHO’S FEATURED….

Featured artists will include, amongst others, Procol Harum, The Move, Joan Armatrading, Budgie, Michael Chapman, Gordon Giltrap, John Williams, John Kongos, Pete Atkin, Tucker Zimmerman, Bakerloo (featuring Clem Clempson), Beverly (Kutner nee Martyn), Juniors Eyes, The Tickle, Spring & Vivian Stanshall.
