Adrian Sutton

Adrian’s work as a composer includes a diverse range of projects.

The best-known are his scores for the National Theatre’s hits War Horse, Coram Boy and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, all of which have gained him Olivier nominations and in the case of the latter, a joint Olivier Award for Sound Design in 2013.

Classically-trained at London University’s Goldsmiths College, his output is defined by a strong sense of symphonic narrative and harmonic richness, blended with contemporary studio technology, sound design and software design.

Away from theatre and the studio, his output includes orchestral and chamber works, among them the War Horse Suite, a symphonic poem based on the War Horse score premiered by the RPO in 2010, a children’s concert opera The Griffin and the Grail premiered by the RPO in 2013, a Sinfonietta for small orchestra, and a Double Piano Sonata.

Many years of TV and film work include music and sound design for Chris Morris’ Jam, Blue Jam and the BAFTA-winning short film My Wrongs.
