The Jacques

Biography

THE JACQUES formed in 2014, originally two sets of brothers from Bristol. The band members are now Fin Jacque (Vocals/Guitar), Elliot Jacque (Drums) — still brothers, and newish members Will Jacque and Harry Jacque. Three of the members are still students at Goldsmiths. They appeared with The Libertines on the bill at their now legendary Hyde Park show then aged 14–18, making their London debut. Spotted by drummer Gary Powell and signed to his 25 Hour Convenience Store label. They recorded debut EP, Pretty DJ at Rockfield Studios with producer Dan Swift (Ash/Snow Patrol). Huey Morgan plays Pretty DJ demo and is first to play, he later remixes the song (to be released in Summer as part of a remix EP) The band have so far played over 120 shows in two years, including Glastonbury (Michael Eavis picked up a copy of the first EP and booked them to play the Glastonbury Christmas Party at Pilton Working Men’s Club and they were booked to play the following year at William’s Green Stage after Bastille and before Courtney Barnett), Reading, Leeds, Isle Of Wight, Dot To Dot, Great Escape and many others. They were invited to play their first show in Europe at Amsterdam London Calling Festival. They are the only band invited to play three times, culminating in a main room show with Circa Waves. They went on to play eight Dutch festivals, an appearance on the biggest evening TV show and sessions and airplay on the biggest radio station 3FM. Further live shows continued with appearances at Reeperbahn and EuroSonic festivals including a live performance on the ledgendary German TV show Rockpalast. The first EP and subsequent Artful Dodger EP received extensive airplay on R1, XFM and 6 Music as well as many international radio. Early supporters include Huw Stephens (who chose to introduce only one band on stage at Reading 2015, The Jacques), John Kennedy, Chris Hawkins, Don Letts, Phil Taggart, Huey Morgan and Steve Lamaq. BBC Introducing/PRS invited the band to appear at their first CMJ New York showcase at Rough Trade Brooklyn and the band were subsequently invited to appear at SXSW the following March. The band headlined their own show in NYC at The Mercury Lounge in March 2016.  Bad Brain’s Daryl Jennifer and Marky Ramone were intrigued enough to turn up. US booking agency APA signed the band immediately for live representation in North America. The band released one song in 2016 — Eleanor Ring Me, recorded at RAK Studios. New single, No Kamikaze was recorded at Konk Studios last September, produced again by Dan Swift under the inquisitive eye of owner Sir Ray Davies. The band headlined Transmusicale Festival, Rennes, France in December 2016. Following their first sell out show in Paris in May the band were immediately booked by founder Jean Louis to appear. The show was broadcast in full on French TV channel Culturebox. The single has since been playlisted on France’s biggest radio station Oui FM. The band have since  been invited to appear at one of France’s most influential festivals Pritempts Le Bourge on April 21st along with their third headline show in Paris on Record Store Day on 22nd April. Their next London show is on Thursday 18th May at the legendary 100 Club.
