Never has the phrase ‘blood, sweat & tears’ been so apt to describe the process that has been the recording of Ulterior’s debut album. The result is arguably their finest hour, a shimmering production with seductive hooks and vocals shining clearly amid the storm. Surely now this is their salvation?

The first  single ‘Sex War Sex Cars Sex’ delivers the finest and most brutally honest Ulterior moments to date. The lyrics putting you square in the middle of a sexual cold war stand-off, with your foot on the accelerator endlessly speeding for the horizon. All anchored to a tormenting synthetic pulse and layered with magnificently euphoric and twisted synthesizer brutality.

Previous releases by Ulterior were available only by limited edition vinyl/download and include Weapons, Fifteen, Fireships, The Death Of Everything,  Sister Speed and Aporia. These were the first battle-plans for their regime. All of which seem to adopt Motörheads “Everything Louder Than Everything Else” ethos. These early releases led to supports with The Horrors, Faust, The Faint, A.R.E Weapons and a European tour with The Sisters Of Mercy.

Ulterior are a band for the Apocalypse, a take-no-prisoners gang that drag you into their world and ask no questions. Like a fuzzed up Stockholm Syndrome for the masses. Once you have been subjected to their intense brand of hypnotic overdrive, you’ll never want to leave.
