Cube Soundtracks releases the soundtrack album to the feature debut of the Academy Award-nominated writer/director Roger Goldby. A production by Bright Pictures, 'The Waiting Room' was selected as the opening night gala for the East London Film Festival and has led to much praise for Edmund Butt's heart-warming score.
'The Waiting Room', directed by Roger Goldby, tells the story of two separate groups of friends, their colleagues, partners and lovers, all living in South London and completely unconnected-until a chance encounter at a train station throws all their lives onto a different track. The film, starring Anne-Marie Duff and Ralf Little, manages to be both poignant and life-affirming, emphasizing the truly poetic nature of love.
The sharply written script in 'The Waiting Room' is the perfect backdrop to Edmund Butt's beautifully emotive score. His contemporary style of music sits fantastically with this modern romance, whilst the simple melodies and superb harmonies of tracks such as "Lonely Nights" and "Remember Me" highlight the characters honest and frank interpretation of heartbreak and despair. A highlight of this soundtrack is "Waiting For Something" with lyrics crafted by the brilliant Sir Tim Rice, and performed by popular Swedish indie-pop band Oh Laura. The band will be performing on Janice Long’s Radio 2 show on the 24th July. Also included on the soundtrack is the club hit "And In The End There Is Love".
By the age of eighteen, the critically acclaimed composer Edmund Butt had gained a first class performers degree at the prestigious Royal College of Music. He is best known for his orchestration for Hollywood composers on films such as Desperate Measures, Dark City, Merlin, and Dangerous Beauty. Whilst his dark contemporary and epic score for the feature 'Revelation' for Romulus Films has hailed him as one of the most innovative and influential composers of his generation. Edmund Butt has composed for television dramas such as Ashes To Ashes and Life On Mars, and additionally his contemporary style has led to his role as Musical Director for the likes of Madonna, Puff Daddy, The Corrs, and George Martin to name but a few.
