Nearly five years since his last release, London native Tom The Lion sets himself up for a remarkable comeback with new single ‘Tanks’. In an attempt to divert himself from the isolation and turmoil he was experiencing from the breakdown of a relationship and unsatisfied with the music he had been working on, Tom took to the streets of London to find inspiration from the world he had around him. The culmination of these moments has become the newly announced album ‘Round Trip’, and finds Tom tackling subjects of love, heartbreak, age and friendship, accessing universal experience through the revelation of tiny, often humorous and deeply personal details.

Having his first collection of music ‘The Adventures Of Tom The Lion’, a compilation of two double vinyl EPs, and the follow-up ‘Sleep’ both achieving the unprecedented accolade of being named Rough Trade’s ‘Album Of The Month’ respectively, Tom found early supporters in Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Rob Da Bank and all the indications were there to suggest that Tom The Lion was set for the top. Signing to a major record label for the release of ‘Sleep’, it was here that Tom found himself becoming increasingly unhappy with the material he was creating and took the decision to take a step back and discover himself through music once again.

Recorded in collaboration with producer Luke Potashnick and mixed by Craig Silvey, the new single sets Tom out in a fresh new lane and comes tinged with vintage synths gorgeously placed against the artist’s honest and contemporary vocal performance. There is a sullen mood that washes across the track with deep bass lines creating a brooding atmosphere for Tom’s contemplative lyrics to soar above, seriously underlining his credentials as an artist to watch for 2019.

With new album ’Round Trip’ pencilled for release later this year and host of new material to come, Tom The Lion will first embark on the UK leg of Pinegrove’s upcoming tour as main support as well as a number of headline shows reintroducing himself to a loyal fan base that are ready and waiting for one of the most unmistakable voices in the UK to return.
