Nathen Durasamy is a half British half Mauritian composer. Nathen predominantly works as a composer for film and TV; currently working on a number of features, Nathen has previously worked as a scoring assistant to Segun Akinola (composer on Doctor Who) and contributed additional music to the Emmy nominated BBC Documentary Kingdom with David Attenborough.

Nathen’s band Rora And The Untamed are set to release their debut album Do You Like Me Now? on 9th October with Island Records. Nathen produced and wrote the music alongside his partner Aurora Nishevci (of The Last Dinner Party).

Nathen’s orchestrations and arrangements have featured at the Royal Albert Hall on the BBC Proms (2023) and at the Brit Awards (2025). He has worked in the pop world, orchestrating The Last Dinner Party’s second Album: ‘From The Pyre’ with Aurora. Further, he has worked as an orchestrator for Jax Jones and INFLO.

Nathen has worked with the orchestras: BBC NOW, FAMES Macedonia, Budapest Scoring, St Pauls Sinfonia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Misbourne Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded at AIR, RAK and Angel.

Nathen studied composition under John Ashton Thomas (formerly the orchestrator for John Powell). He was the first person in history to receive a grade of 100% in composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. And has received multiple awards for his compositions. Including the Award of Excellence and the Daryl Runswick Orchestral prize (judged by Stephen Fry).

“Marvellous piece, lovely dark openings in the cello and basses. A lot of wonderful texture and colour built into a terrific harmonically rich mixture.. An odd thing to say about music but I thought it was complex, I thought it was intelligent. There was a lot going on, the brass section was so beautifully coloured, a lot of rhythmic power, terrific orchestration generally speaking…Someone might say there was too much for such a small canvas but I thought it fitted really well. I was immensely impressed.”
