Robyn Rocket's Vinyl Kickstarter Campaign

Robyn Rocket has set up a kickstarter to press project 'Robyn Rocket and People You May of Heard of' onto vinyl. Robyn is supported by Heart n Soul, the award-winning creative community and arts charity, believing in the power and talents of people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

"In 2024 I’m releasing 5 digital EP’s under the name of Robyn Rocket and people you may of heard of. The EP’s were made from 3 days in 3 studios with 3 different groups of musicians without having anything prepared beforehand. I invited 20+ musicians from the 3 music communities I’m part of: Café OTO, the venue that hosts my night ‘Robyn’s Rocket’, The Total Refreshment Centre – a group of artists studios in stoke Newington and The Learning Disability / autism arts scene via ‘Heart N Soul’, an arts charity based in Deptford, who have been supporting me.

I divided people into groups, most people had not met everyone in their group before, then I invited each group to jam with me for a day, the result was these 5 EP’s. They’ve all been released digitally so far - The project is called ‘Robyn Rocket and people you may of heard of’, because people from each of the communities I’m part of will have heard of some of the artists involved and hopefully discover other artists’ music who were part of the project..

I am however not asking for donations, instead anyone who puts money in will get a reward. Rewards start from £1 and include physical and digital items, hopefully there's something for everyone.

During 2024 I learnt that some magazines / papers do not review EP’s, and that an album would be more likely to get reviewed, which would help the overall goal of this project, which is to reach more people so that more artists with Learning Disabilities/ Autistic artists would be heard in mainstream spaces. I want to use this kickstarter to get a vinyl pressed and send it to some reviewers. I want to share all the artists who were part of this project with a wider audience, especially artists with Learning Disabilities and Autistic artists. I am autistic and know that artists like me face extra barriers in getting their work heard and in taking part in mainstream projects. I want to bring light on to fellow disabled artists in a project that's focus isn't disability but connection is important to me."
