"...after a period of caution when it came to new signings, the independent publisher felt confident enough to ink no fewer than 15 exclusive songwriting agreements in 2021. From Sacha Skarbek to Ivory Layne to Emma Blackery, Maya Delilah to Erland Cooper to The Heavytrackerz, the signings spanned genre, stature and discipline. The common thread, according to A&R Director Sarah Liversedge Platz is the Bucks team’s passion for the writer’s work.

Among the company’s successes this year are cuts on No.1 albums from The Lathums and Jack Savoretti; Ivors nominations for composers Nwando Ibizie, David Arnold, Michael Price and Matthew Herbert; a Best Independent Album nom for Krust at the AIM Awards; and award wins for Guvna B and Jay Sean at the MOBO and BMI Pop Awards respectively.

The sync sector is also showing signs of growth again, with Bucks’ Head of Sync Jonathan Tester telling The IMI that film, TV and ad sectors alike are commissioning more diverse projects – and the kind of music they’re after is similarly varied as a result.

Bucks’ sync team picked up its own gong this year, winning the Music & Sound Award for Best TV Promo after placing Sam Ford’s track London in a BT Sport produced Premier League trailer.
