New Signing: Snorri Hallgrimsson

We are delighted to announce the signing of Icelandic composer and producer Snorri Hallgrimsson to an exclusive worldwide publishing deal. A big thanks to Music Week for featuring the signing.

Hallgrimsson has a list of credits as a solo artist, film composer and as a collaborator on a wide variety of projects, including the BAFTA-award winning score for Broadchurch alongside Ólafur Arnalds.

Hallgrimsson began his career as a classical guitarist and went on to study composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Berklee College of Music.

His debut solo album, Orbit, was released in 2018 and was followed by double EP Landbrot in 2020-2021.

In 2022, Hallgrimsson scored Jaula/The Chalk Line, which aired on Netflix. He also composed the score for the documentary Innocence, which went on to win Best OST at the Icelandic Music Awards.

His second full length album, I Am Weary, Don’t Let Me Rest, was released in June 2023. It received three nominations at the Icelandic Music Awards and went on to win Production Of The Year in 2024.

In that same year, Hallgrimsson signed with Deutsche Grammophon. His debut release on the label was the Longer Shadows, Softer Stones EP, released in October.

He has been nominated for three more Icelandic Music Awards in 2025 and currently boasts over 2.5 million streams per month across all platforms.

Hallgrimsson’s score to the feature film Words Of War, directed by James Strong (Mr Bates v The Post Office), was released on May 16. The film is at UK cinemas from June.

His new single on Deutsche Grammophon will be released on May 30 along with a series of live shows in the autumn across the UK and Europe, including the beautiful Kirche Neumünster venue in Zürich on November 12.

Hallgrimsson will continue to release singles in the lead up to an EP release in September.

Howard Price, head of media at Bucks Music Group, said “We are delighted to be working with Snorri. He is a truly unique addition to our roster, working across mediums, and his music greatly moves me. This is a very exciting time to be working with Snorri in the build-up to his next release on Deutsche Grammophon, live shows, and with the release of the feature film Words of War, scored by Snorri.”
