Brooke Bentham released her debut album Everyday Nothing In February 2020. A collection of songs navigating the strangeness of writing music full time, searching for the creativity in endless, aimless times. The irony of releasing an album about doing nothing every day in early 2020 was unexpected but it was a success, receiving an AIM ‘Independent Album of the Year’ award nomination as well as features from The Guardian ‘One To Watch’, Sunday Times ‘Breaking Act’, NME, The Line of Best Fit ‘On The Rise’, ELLE and more as well as rave reviews including 7.2 Pitchfork, 8.5/10 The Line of Best Fit, 4/5 NME.
The Caring EP released March 2023 was Brooke easing back into music, a collection of songs that find the joy in music-making without overthinking, and a purging of the anxieties that come with a life held in limbo for too long. “It’s about asking ques0ons you’ll never really know the answer to” she says, “seeking comfort for something that is going to be with you for the rest of your life, the unknown”.
Brooke originally from South Shields - was involved as a Backing Vocalist on longtime friend, Sam Fender’s second album Seventeen Going Under. She supported him with her band on a number of dates during 2021/22. She contributed BV’s to recording sessions on Sam’s third album People Watching and then joined him and his band on stage to headline Boardmasters Festival on 10th August 2024. She was then invited to join as a permanent member – and now is an integral part of the group touring the world as a Multi Instrumentalist and Vocalist. Alongside that project Brooke is still writing, releasing and performing as a solo artist.
